Devon Dumplings v Frogs

Thursday 07 August 2025 at Queen's College Oxford

DD 281 for 4 declared (52 overs) Frogs CC 210 all out (36.3 overs) DD won by 71 runs

The third and final game of  Dumplings’ 2025 Oxford tour saw the party ,nursing a few tired bodies and sore heads, put out a side replenished by some local cricketers. Happily, the team saved its best performance for last, turning in a strong performance with both bat and ball to close out the week on a high.
Winning the toss, Dumplings lost two early wickets before Matthew Nichols and Sam Mycock took centre stage. What followed was one of those very special partnerships that come only too rarely. They added 205 runs for the third wicket, both reaching centuries before retiring.
Nichols crafted a masterful 116 from 140 balls (15x4, 1x6), anchoring the innings and accumulating steadily before accelerating late on. Mycock played with power and freedom, striking 110 from just 105 balls, including 5 sixes. Their contrasting styles blended perfectly, laying waste to the Frogs' bowling attack. There were late contributions from Junaid Aziz (21*) and Shubham Jain (9*), and Dumplings declared after 52 overs with an imposing total of 281 for 4.

The Frogs reply got off to a shaky start thanks to a fine spell from Kai Croft (2 for 16), who struck early. Tight bowling from Aashay Dube (1 for 21) and Sam Read (3 for 55) kept the pressure on through the middle overs, while Sam Mycock added to his batting heroics with 3 for 28 from just three overs. There was a late flurry from N. Jariwala (47) and K. Jariwala (35), but Dumplings remained in control.

The final wickets fell quickly, with Shubham Jain (1 for 16) finishing things off in the 37th over. The Frogs were dismissed for 210, giving Dumplings a convincing 71-run victory and a perfect ending to the tour.
