Devon Dumplings v SOA
DD 169 ao (40.4 overs) SOA 170 for 6 (27.0 overs) SOA won by 4 wickets
Dumplings returned to Queen’s College, Oxford for the 2025 tour and were met with bright sunshine and a flat-looking pitch. Harry Kandampully won the toss and elected to bat first.
Openers Jeremy Tojy and Ben Abrahams made a steady start, reaching 44 before Tojy was dismissed for a fluent 22, caught at midwicket. Abrahams followed soon after for 16, and Dumplings then lost two more wickets in quick succession — Kai Croft bowled for a duck and Tom Cates falling shortly after — leaving them in early trouble at 58 for 4.
The innings was rebuilt by Sam Mycock (33), who batted patiently, and Sam Read, who struck a brisk 21 off just 19 balls, including a towering six. But the key contribution came from Aashay Dube, who continued his fine tour form with a composed 36 off 39 deliveries. Kandampully added a stylish 26 before a late-order collapse saw Dumplings lose their last four wickets for just 5 runs, ending 169ao.
The pick of the SOA bowlers was Oliver Tewaitiya, (4 for 21 from 9 overs) while Arthur Muir and Andrew Jarvis picked up two wickets apiece.
In reply, SOA got off to a flyer thanks to Durness Mackay-Champion, who punished anything short and brought up a half-century in no time, smashing 7 fours and 4 sixes in a brutal 58 (32) before retiring out. The Dumplings hit back briefly with two wickets in quick succession — both taken by Aashay Dube, including a smart caught-and-bowled to remove the redoubtable Frankie Crouch.
Matt Nichols also chipped in with two wickets, removing Kazim Nawaz and Oliver Tewaitiya, but a calm and composed partnership between Junaid Aziz (36*) and Ben McCure (30*) took the game away from the Dumplings. Despite some good fielding, SOA reached the target comfortably in the 27th over.

After the match, both teams enjoyed a fine BBQ, drinks, and plenty of post-match chatter in the beautiful Queen’s College setting. Whitey, ever-present and ever-wise, stepped in as senior tourist to dish out the day’s fines, which were numerous.
Once again thanks to SOA for a most enjoyable game played in excellent spirit, and a special thank you to those who stayed for the post-match social and made it such an enjoyable occasion. Our sincere appreciation goes to the groundsman and his wife for a full day's catering.
