Devon Dumplings v UCS Gowers
DD 308 for 7 dec (56 overs) UCS Gowers 175 for 7 (46 overs). Match Drawn
After two years at Deer Park this fixture returned to its traditional home of Instow. Richard Tidball won the toss and elected to bat. On her debut, Annabel Berry was presented with her Dumplings cap.
The opening pair progressed to 48 before Damon Berry (23) was caught. This brought Harry Kandampully to the crease. He and James Ewen were still together at lunch with the score at 137 for 1 with them both having reached their half centuries. Half an hour into the afternoon session both fell to Seb Biddy in the 42nd over having put on 133 for the 2nd wicket.
The runs continued to flow, with a 60 run 4th wicket partnership between Xavier Warmbrunn (20) and Shreyansh Ghosh (54). Tallan Burns hit a quick fire 29* at the end allowing a Dumplings declaration at 308.
UCS Gowers reply didn’t start well with a run out in the second over. Wagan Khan was next in and he attempted to push the scoring along, with 33 from only 19 balls. However the Burns brothers combined to have him caught behind. Alex Pemberton (70) kept the innings together before he fell to the experienced Tidball, trapped LBW (137/5). As the last hour started it was a case of batting out for the draw against the economical spin of Aditya More. He finished with figures of 4 for 32, in 16 overs including 8 maidens.
Devon Dumplings 307 for 8 dec. (Kandampully 81, J. Ewen 69, Ghosh 54 – Orford 3/55)
UCS Gowers 175 for 7 (Pemberton 70 More 4-32)
