Devon Dumplings v Free Foresters

There was a welcome drop in temperature accompanied by the odd shower and a blustery breeze.
Matt Hewer won the toss and put the Free Foresters in.
Young local player Arthur Whitby was making his Dumplings debut and was presented with his cap. He opened the bowling with Aashay Dube, claiming a wicket in his first over. Dube then took a couple and Free Foresters were 56 for 3 when James Fulton came to the crease. He played a captain’s innings, getting to his hundred in just 89 balls before falling to Harry Everett on 111. (206/6). This brought Omkar Khot and Felix Kenney together and they pushed the scoring along to 261 for 6 at which point Fulton declared.
Everett and Tristan Wakeley opened the batting, enjoying a 34 run partnership before Wakeley was caught. Everett though stayed put and enjoyed partnerships of 98 and 90 on his way to scoring 107 before falling LBW.(222/3). Tim Doulton and Joel Seward were then able to guide Dumplings home to a comfortable victory.
