Devon Dumplings v Shebbear College

Wednesday 14 May 2025 at The College

DD 177 for 5, Shebbear College 56. DD won by 121 runs.

It was another lovely spring day for our trip to Shebbear College for a 25 over match. As
time was limited with the pupils needing to catch their buses at 4:30pm, we were invited for
lunch so that time would not be taken out for tea. The apple crumble and custard was well
received. The inevitable exams had unfortunately reduced the strength of the College side.
Dumplings batted first and lost two wickets early on before opener Xavier Warmbrunn was
joined by Harry Everett. They enjoyed an 80 run partnership before the stylish Warmbrunn gave
wicketkeeper Cardo an easy stumping having made 45. Everett retired once he had passed 50.
Shreyansh Ghosh scored 30 at the end, off just 17 balls.
After a short change round Dumplings opened their attack with Olivia Cooper bowling
a maiden and then old boy Richard Tidball taking a wicket with his first ball. The College lost
wickets regularly, including two in an over from Kirt Forgham, until G Petherick and H Sibcy,
whose father was keeping wicket for the Dumplings, enjoyed a 24 run partnership for the 8th
wicket. Everett, brought on at the end, finished off the tail with 2 wickets in his 1.4 overs.
South African Wessel Oosthuizen had been busy fielding in the covers taking three catches and
two runouts.
Thanks to our new umpire Alex Pickersgill.
